A PILLAR of the community has been presented with a prestigious lifetime achievement award.
Daryl Chambers was given a lifetime achievement award for services to markets at a recent conference of the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA).
Mr Chambers is the town surveyor at Bridport Town Council and has been a founding member of the NABMA buddy scheme and the NABMA board of directors. He has also been part of a health check team, providing help, support and guidance to other NABMA members including parish, town and community councils.
Mr Chambers said: "This award is for everyone involved with the Bridport Market and reflects the work gone into making Bridport Market one of the best in the country and how we have reacted post-pandemic to get the market back up and running at a level we were at before the pandemic hit."
A spokesman for the NABMA said: "We have a tremendous ambassador in Daryl as he is passionate about our work, role and influence and freely recommends the benefits of membership at every opportunity that is presented.
"NABMA is grateful to Daryl for his active participation that now extends towards two decades, and it is right that this service is recognised in the company of his many friends and colleagues."
