BRIDPORT EVOLUTION 98
BG SUNS 46
BRIDPORT Evolution maintained their perfect record in the Dorset Basketball Association Conference A with a resounding 98-46 win over BG Suns.
Suns were off to a terrific start and stunned Evo early, proving to be a team with some very good offensive capability, taking a 12-7 lead early in the first quarter.
Bridport found their feet eventually with some reliable scoring from Jeff Robertshaw, who had 20 on the game and was named MVP for the evening.
The first quarter finished 21-12 to Evolutions and heading into the second quarter Bridport really knuckled down on their defence, with Piotr Lason leading the way with defensive stops.
More importantly, Bridport started to communicate better and the Suns found it more difficult to penetrate their defence, Bridport leading 48-21 at half-time.
Bridport continued to extend their lead in the second half while playing good team basketball which led to buckets being scored easily.
By the end of the third period Bridport were up 76-32.
A notable performance from Suns’ target man Adeniran made it difficult to guard for the Evolution front court throughout the game.
All in all, a very competitive game which is not reflected by the score board as both teams worked extremely hard all night to outplay the other.
Bridport visit Dorset Storm next Friday with both teams looking to top the conference.
Scores: Robertshaw 20 (MVP), Pudge 19, Sorrell 15, Lason 15, Gray 8, Canham 8, Kirby 6, Ormsby 5, Trivett 2.
