BRIDPORT boss Rob Marquis fears being “marooned” at the bottom of the table should his Bees side lose at fellow strugglers Ashton & Backwell United on Saturday (3pm).
Bridport’s sole victory in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division so far this season came against the Stags courtesy of a 2-1 win.
However, Bridport now prop up the table and a loss to their rivals would see them cut four points adrift of the nearest team.
Marquis told the Bridport News: “We've got to get something, we’re marooned if we don’t.
“If we could get three points it would take us off the bottom and we’re within touching distance of Cadbury Heath, who I don’t believe are that great a side.
“We need to get something to stay in touch, otherwise we’re starting to get in a very precarious position early in the season.
“Realistically, you don’t want to be marooned. That would be the concern for me.

“If we could get three points, it would put us on six points and another win takes us out of the bottom two, effectively.
“I appreciate I can’t talk about getting more than one win at a time at the moment, but I’ve got to keep the belief and just keep looking in that direction.
“We’re improving and we do have the potential to take points off some teams.”
Dom McAllister is doubtful with a groin strain picked up in training.
