Author and presenter Tom Fort is one of three speakers taking part, which is being held in the run-up to the festival itself in November.
Mr Fort is the author of 'The A303: Highway to the Sun'. When the book was turned into a BBC 4 programme, Mr Fort presented it from the wheel of a Morris Traveller. He drove along the 92-mile arterial route from Basingstoke to Honiton, visiting ancient and modern treasures en route.
He’ll be talking about his new book, 'Casting Shadows', at Bridport Arts Centre on Monday, September 20 at 2.30pm.The book looks at the history of freshwater fishing since time began, initially discovered as a bountiful source of sustenance.
Mr Fort explores the secret, silent world of the freshwater fish found in Britain and the art and industry of fishing that spans thousands of years.
The event is one of three illustrated talks in one day at Bridport Arts Centre, along with Lachlan Goudie, speaking on his book, 'The Story of Scottish Art', at 11am and Andrew Ziminski, author of 'The Stonemason: A History of Building Britain' at 4.30pm.
The Story of Scottish Art journeys through 5,000 years of Scottish Art. Since the Neolithic era, creativity has played a vital role in shaping the course of Scotland’s history. Mr Goudie’s tale is one of radicals and visionaries, artists with an international mind-set and a bold sense of their heritage.
The Stonemason is a story about the building of Great Britain and is part archaeological history and yet a deeply personal insight into an ancient craft.
Tickets are £12 or £30 for all three events and are available from Bridport Tourist Information Centre box office on 01308 424901.
