A CHARITY bridal shop in the town centre received a visit from the MP for West Dorset this week.
West Dorset MP Chris Loder visited the Scope charity shop on East Street, Bridport.
Mr Loder met the team of volunteers and staff, having been invited by shop manager Nicole Hooper to drop in and see the shop’s new bridal room.
Mr Loder said: “Scope carries out important work, supporting disabled people and their families. I am incredibly proud to support the charity’s mission to achieve everyday equality for disabled people and support disabled people into the workplace.
“I was so impressed to see the shop’s new bridal room. It’s a stunning space and I’m very pleased to hear that it was made possible with the hard work and generous donations from our wonderful Bridport community. The bridal room is a welcome service for our town.”
Mr Loder added: “I really enjoyed spending time in Bridport with Nicole and her team. It was an excellent opportunity to see for myself the fantastic work the volunteers do and to talk to them about their individual stories.”
Ms Hooper said: “It means such a lot for us to have a high-profile member of the community support Scope’s mission to achieve everyday equality for disabled people.
“I’m so pleased he saw first-hand, the hard work of our team of staff and volunteers and, our fantastic Bridport community who all helped to make the bridal room possible.
“We are always in need of volunteers, so if you like to get out of your house or learn new skills, I can guarantee by giving a few hours a week to our shop you’ll really enjoy working with our fun and friendly team.”
*As reported, a lot of work went into creating the space for brides at the shop, which is complete with a luxurious seating area for the mother of the bride, or whoever might accompany her.
The bridal room is appointment only - people should simply give their dress size to the team and will be able to choose from a wide range of pre-owned and brand new wedding dresses in that size, alongside shoes and accessories, hats for the mother of the bride and even prom dresses.
