A WEEKEND of events will be going ahead this weekend to raise money for good causes.
The Shave Cross Marathon will be taking place from Friday, August 6 until Sunday, August 8 will events scaled down slightly from the usual fan fair.
The event will kick off with a car treasure hunt, leaving the field a Kittys Farm, Shave Cross at 6pm on Friday. No local knowledge will be required as directions are given out and there is a trophy for the winner.
The main event, a five mile run, takes place on Saturday, August 7 from the field at Kittys Farm, taking participants over cross country and roads. Entrants can sign up from 6pm and the run begins at 7pm. There is also a 'round the field' race for children under 11 as well as children's sports, skittles, a bar, a hog roast and a grand draw with a £100 prize.
On Sunday there will be a tractor trundle from the field at 10.30 with bacon rolls for all tractor drivers and barbecue and licensed bar available on return.
All proceeds from the event will go to local charities.
