A COUPLE are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary today.
Randall Lloyd and his wife Margaret Lloyd are today celebrating their platinum wedding anniversary, 70 years after they got married on July 28, 1951.
Mr Lloyd, 91, and Mrs Lloyd, 89, have lived in Maiden Newton since 1979 after moving from St Albans, and the pair quickly settled into village life.
Mr Lloyd has spent time growing vegetables on his allotment and followed the Maiden Newton Youth Football Club, while Mrs Lloyd has enjoyed cooking, gardening, the Women's Institute and becoming a member of the local ladies skittle team.
The couple have two children, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Today, a small celebration will take place to mark the milestone anniversary.
Their daughter Helen Lloyd said: "There will be a celebration lunch followed by afternoon tea, and a special cake has been made to share with friends, family and neighbours.
"We wish them both a very happy 70th wedding anniversary. Have a special day."
