A ROAD on the outskirts of Bridport is currently closed for a week with a diversion route in place.
Whilst resurfacing works are being carried out on Ridgeback Lane, the road will be closed between Round Hill Coppice in Melplash and Sunnyside Farm in Loscombe.
The closure began yesterday - Thursday, July 22 - and will remain in place until Thursday, July 29.
The road has been closed whilst the works are carried out to 'minimise likelihood of danger to highway users'.
The 8.1 kilometre diversion route in place will take drivers on to Mapperton Lane, Townsend Way and Mangerton Lane before rejoining the road in a detour taking roughly 12 minutes.
Dorset Council warns that any person who breaches the road closure could be convicted or face a fine not exceeding £1,000.
Anyone with any concerns or wish to discuss any issues regarding the roadworks can contact Dorset Council online via http://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/roadworks/enquiries
