PEOPLE in and around the Bridport area will now be able to gain information and advice about council services in person.
Dorset Council's customer service hub at Mountfield on Rax Lane has reopened from today, Wednesday, July 21.
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020 - people have had to access services online or by phone, and will now be able to speak to someone face to face.
Customer services will be able to assist with council enquiries or urgent needs that cannot be supported over the phone or online.
The opening times will be Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am until 12.30pm and 1.30pm until 5pm and Fridays from 9am until 12.30pm and 1.30pm until 4.30pm.
Perspex safety screens will remain in place and staff will be strongly encouraged to continue wearing face coverings, as will customers visiting indoor premises. Cleaning regimes will remain in place.
Cllr Jill Haynes, Dorset Council’s portfolio holder for customer and community services, said: “Providing support for customers who cannot access our services digitally, or who need face-to-face assistance is important as we come out of COVID-19 restrictions, and we’re pleased to be able to re-open a customer service point in Bridport.”
“I’d like to thank local residents and businesses for their understanding throughout the pandemic.”
Plans are being drawn up to eventually move the customer service point to Bridport Library, but in the meantime the customer service advisor will be based at Mountfield.
The council will update residents and partners as this work progresses.
