FIREFIGHTERS were called to a field fire which saw four acres alight.
Firefighters from Bridport assisted crews from from Crewkerne, Yeovil and Beaminster this afternoon at Chedington near Dorchester to put out the large field fire.
A spokesman from Bridport Fire Station said: " At 1.58pm, we were called to a field fire not long after returning from an earlier road traffic collision.
"Crews were mobilised after an assistance message was received at fire control.
"One pumping appliance and the water carrier were sent to Chedington Lane to assist crews from Crewkerne, Yeovil and Beaminster fire stations with a sizeable grass fire in a field.
"Multiple beaters and hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire."
A spokesman from Beaminster Fire Station said: "At 1.44pm we were called to Chedington Lane for a field fire.
"Approximately four acres of cut hay well alight on arrival.
"Assistance message was sent requesting four pumping appliances and a water carrier.
"The fire was extinguished using jets, beaters and a tractor and tanker."
