SCHOOLCHILDREN went the extra mile to raise around £1,000 for charity.
Pupils at St Catherine's Catholic Primary School in Bridport walked, ran and shimmied a mile each to raise money for Julia's House children's hospice.
With many charities struggling to raise funds as a result of the Covid restrictions, St Catherine's pupils and staff worked together for the charity's Extra Mile campaign.
The children asked friends and families for sponsorship and after completing their mile around the school field were able to raise £969 for the cause. Early years group, Oak Class, won the cup for most sponsorship collected by raising £252 between them.
Sarah Terrey, headteacher at St Catherine's, said: "Once again I am so proud of the thoughtfulness of our children and the determination, they have to help make the world a better place every day.
"Even during restrictions, they thought of a way to simplify an event that meant they could raise money for a truly fantastic charity. Well done everyone."
Julia's House is a children's hospice which operates across Dorset and Wiltshire. The charity is dedicated to bringing comfort and care to families of children suffering from a life-limiting or life-threatening condition.
The children were presented with a medal from Julia’s House Hospice as a reward.
The St Catherine's PTFA presented the cheque to Chris Munden, a representative of Julia’s House.
