TINY Chedington parish council is to be dissolved – after failing to find anyone amongst the 150 electors to serve on it.
Dorset Council is being asked this week (Thur 15) to make a legal order which will bring it to an end.
Chedington was previously part of the grouped Parrett and Axe Parish Council, which was itself dissolved in the autumn of 2019. At one time Chedington had three parish councillors as part of that wider group.
The decision will not affect the right to hold a parish meeting and Dorset Council ward member Cllr Rebecca Knox has said she will continue to support the community in the absence of a parish council.
“It’s always a shame when we can’t find anyone who wants to stand but it’s a really great community and very active in other ways,” said Cllr Knox.
The area’s nearest parish council is now South Parrett.
