IT was a race against time for Lyme Regis coastguards as incoming tides caused panic on the beach.
At around 3.26pm yesterday the team was tasked to a report of four people in danger of being cut off by the tide between Lyme and Charmouth.
On arrival at scene, an immediate search of the area was conducted. All persons on the beach were clear of the hazardous area, and recognising the danger were making their own way back to Charmouth.
But a second call came in - as the team was tasked to reports of people climbing the cliffs to escape the incoming tide to the east of Charmouth.
"The coastguard team went on to the beach to ensure that no one was cut off or in trouble on the cliff," a spokesman for Lyme Regis Coast With everyone confirmed safe, the team were stood down.
For emergencies on the sea, cliff, river, mud, harbour and beach call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
