YET again the police have been fund raising in Winterbourne Abbas with their hidden speed ‘TRAP’ camera, which is against all the recommendations of the Ministry of Transport.
Cameras were not meant to be placed where there is a psychological tendency to increase speed.
For example, travelling through Winterbourne Abbas towards Dorchester most traffic travels through the built up area at 30mph, however, near the de-restriction sign the road starts becoming a hill, and knowing the de-restriction sign is near, and the buildings etc have ended, the tendency is to push the accelerator to overcome the hill.
The speed camera is hidden, unseen, behind a huge hedge, namely it TRAPS the motorist.
A good fundraiser; but turns the public against the police, who are never seen nowadays where, and when, they are needed.
