AN AIR ambulance was called after a car hit a pedestrian in Lyme Regis this afternoon.
Police said the serious injury collision took place near the town centre on Broad Street.
Police have put road closures in place at the location.
Traffic is said to be building up near the town centre as a result of the accident.
A spokesman for Bridport Police said: "Broad Street in Lyme Regis is currently closed between Silver Street and Anning Road following a serious injury collision involving a car and a pedestrian that occurred at 4.38pm today.
"Emergency services are at the scene. Please seek alternative routes while the road closure is in place."
A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 4:38pm to reports of a road traffic collision, reportedly involving a car and a pedestrian.
"We have attended with 2 ambulances, an air ambulance and an operations officer."
