A SOCIETY of organists is resuming its activities this week following a break due to the pandemic.
The South Wessex Organ Society will be resuming activities from this Saturday, June 26 with an organ masterclass at Lyme Regis Parish Church. Members of the public are welcome to come and listen free of charge.
A number of organists at various levels of experience have signed up to take part in the masterclass, which is being led by Andrew Millington, formerly director of music at Exeter Cathedral. Mr Millington has a long association with Lyme Regis and has worked regularly in the town with the society and other musical organisations.
Richard Godfrey, chairman of the South Wessex Organ Society, said: “I know Andrew is looking forward to taking this masterclass on our superb Škrabl organ and it will be an enjoyable and instructive afternoon."
The masterclass will begin at 2.30pm. There is plenty of room in the church to allow social distancing between groups and masks must be worn.
