'EVERYTHING DELICIOUS' in the Bridport area was celebrated at a food market.
The Love Food - Love Bridport Market went ahead at Millennium Green on Saturday, June 19 and was hailed as a 'great success' by organisers.
The market replaced the popular annual Bridport Food Festival event at Asker Meadows which was not able to go ahead this year due to the current restrictions.
The free open-air market aimed to celebrate everything delicious in Bridport and the surrounding areas with more than 30 individual food and drink stalls.
Kathy Dare, chairman of the Bridport Local Food Group, said: "“We are delighted to say the ‘Love Food – Love Bridport’ was considered to be a great success by visitors, traders and ourselves.
"It was fantastic in these difficult times to see so many happy faces enjoying a day out. There was a steady stream of visitors from when the market opened at nine until rain ended proceedings at just before 5pm.
"The feedback received from all involved has been extremely complimentary, and we have also received incredibly positive comments from the regular Bridport street market traders and retailers in the town who enjoyed increased footfall as a result."
Visitors sampled the produce from a variety of food and drink stalls, including homemade cakes made by Colmer WI, cream tea with scones kindly provided from West Bay Tea rooms, a pint of beer or cider from the Bridport Round Table’s beer & cider gazebo.
Those in attendance were able to either take their food and drink home or enjoy it on the green whilst listening to performances by local musicians.
Many also participated in the festival raffle, join in with a discussion on the topics of healthy food, food security and learning how they can contribute to making Bridport plastic free.
The event was a part of the Bridport Food Festival, a two week affair dedicated to promoting the town’s hospitality.
The spotlight has been shone on local food and drink businesses over the past two weeks with restaurants, cafes and pubs throughout the town putting on special menus alongside a number of other activities.
