Just short of £1,000 has been raised to enable an annual festival to take place this year.
The team behind the Bridport Folk Festival launched a Crowdfunder page in May cover the up front costs of putting on the event.
Traditionally, the funds are raised by local bands and artists through live concerts and busking at Bucky Doo Square - which has not been possible this year.
The page was set up with a £2,300 goal – and £980 was raised.
Organisers will continue to drum up funds the traditional way as local bands are now able to play at Bucky Doo Square on Fridays and Groves Nurseries on Saturdays. The bands will be taking donations during these performances.
A spokesman for the Bridport Folk Festival said: "A big thank you to everyone who have supported us through. We’ve raised nearly £1,000 to help us fund the upfront cost of running this year's Bridport Folk Festival.
"It’s not too late to support this amazing event. Local bands are playing at Bucky Doo on Fridays and Groves on Saturday afternoons and their guitar cases will be open for any donations.
"With your help we will deliver music, dance, workshops and loads of fun at this years Bridport Folk Festival."
After being rescheduled on several occasions, the folk festival is currently scheduled for the weekend of August 13 to August 15.
