'EVERYTHING delicious' in Bridport and the surrounding areas will be celebrated in a market this weekend.
This year's Bridport Food Festival will culminate with the Love Food - Love Bridport Market - which will take place on the Millennium Green this Saturday, June 19.
The food market will replace the traditional food and drink festival at Asker Meadows. This year's event will be on a smaller scale than usual - as a result of Covid restrictions - but will still showcase the best food and drink in the area.
The event will take place from 9am until 5pm and will see more than 30 stands will offer a variety of food and drink to either take home or to enjoy on the green whilst listening to performances by local musicians.
The Festival Team room will be offering home made cakes made by Colmer WI, scones made by West Bay Tea Room served with clotted cream from Hangers Dairy and jam from Cherry Tree preserves and washed down with a cup of Dorset Tea.
The Bridport Round Table Beer gazebo will be offering a selection of local beers and ciders. Jurassic Feast, a silver sponsor of the Festival, will be promoting their new App featuring food and drink companies across the Jurassic Coast as part of a digital loyalty scheme.
Residents will also have the opportunity to join in with a discussion on the topics of healthy food, food security and climate change at the Bridport Food Matters stall as well as learning how they can contribute to making Bridport plastic free.
Kathy Dare, chairperson of the Bridport Local Food Group, said: "Our aim is always to produce a quality event that highlights and celebrates the fantastic food and drink that we offer locally.
"The whole community get behind and support us from our hardworking and dedicated volunteers to community groups, sponsors, and businesses. We strongly believe that the Festival plays an important role in driving food tourism in the area, and know that many visitors come down to the area this time of year to join in with our events.
"Although the format cannot be the same, please do come along to the market on Saturday and join with us celebrating everything that is delicious in Bridport and the surrounding areas."
Visitors to the market are asked to bring their own reusable cup, alternatively the Bridport town reusable cup will be on sale.
