A VEHICLE on fire in a field near Bridport sparked a major emergency response.
A convoy of fire engines, water carrier and Land Rover raced to agricultural land between Bradpole and Loders where a large flat bed vehicle was found to be 'well alight.'
The incident, which happened at approximately 10.19pm yesterday, saw around 10,000 litres of water used, as crews from Bridport and Beaminster battled the blaze.
A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "Upon arrival Bridport's 4x4 appliance made its way off road to the fire and set up an initial attack with two hose reel jets.
"Once the water carrier was in place, multiple lengths of 70mm hose were laid out and using a light portable pump it supplied its 10,000 litres of water to the 4x4 appliance - allowing crews to use two main lines to extinguish the fire.
"Dorset Police were requested to attend."
