AN EVENT marking the 77th anniversary of D-Day will take place in Bridport.
The ‘Short Act of Remembrance for D-Day’ service will take place at the 16th Infantry Memorial, Mountfield, Bridport, on Sunday, June 6.
Rev Pete Stone will lead the act of remembrance and Mayor of Bridport, Cllr Ian Bark, will be representing the town.
Residents are invited to come along and remember what happened 77 years ago, when many of the soldiers that had been based here lost their lives.
Those who attend are asked to arrive at 2.45pm for a 3pm start.
In April one of the last medics to survive D-Day, Ray Lambert, died in North Carolina aged 100. Several local historians are researching various units of the 16th Infantry Regiment, during their stay in the area.
If you would like to share any memories or stories come and share them on the day.
