PEOPLE are being urged to get moving this month to help a good cause.
It's Christian Aid Week (May 10-16) and as part of the fundraiser, residents are invited to sign up to the charity's 300,000 step challenge throughout May. This means doing 10,000 steps a day.
It's a fun way to get out and get active while helping to support a charity, marking its 75th anniversary this year.
You can do the challenge alone or with a team, supporting each other to reach your goal. Whether you decide to walk, jump, skip, hop or run your steps is completely up to you.
Christian Aid is a global movement of people, churches and local organisations seeking to eradicate extreme poverty throughout the world.
Bridport residents gave signed up the the step challenge, and they are encouraging others to join in.
Bridport Team Rector Rev Deb Smith said: "It's a great chance to get fit and have fun whilst doing some good together. Taking part in the 300,000 step challenge is a small way to walk with those, often the poorest communities, who continue to battle the effects of extreme weather. They need a more reliable source of water, both for their crops and for hand washing during this coronavirus pandemic."
There will be sponsorship forms available in most parish churches. Alternatively contact the local Christian Aid co-ordinators, Jill Henderson (email jillpetrina13@gmail.com) or Rev Lorna Johnson (email ms.lorna.dee.johnson@googlemail.com) to request them.
