A BONFIRE spread into nearby woodlands and three fire crews attended to extinguish the blaze.
This afternoon crews from Charmouth Fire Station, Lyme Regis Fire Station and Axminster Fire Station managed to prevent the woodland fire in Uplyme from spreading further.
The fire was extinguished using multiple hose reel jets, drag forks and beaters.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has issued an amber wildfire alert for the coming week as a result of the dry and windy conditions expected over the next few days which means that, should a wildfire occur, it could spread quickly and easily.
A lovely day to be in the garden, not the best day to have a bonfire. This one got out of control and spread to nearby woodland in #Uplyme, dealt with by crews from ##LymeRegis, #Charmouth and #Axminster but could have been worse! @DSFireUpdates @DWFireControl pic.twitter.com/bLfkSox2RH

A spokesman for Axminster Fire Station said: "This afternoon our firefighters along with Charmouth Fire Station were called to assist Lyme Regis Fire Station with a fire in the open that had spread to nearby woodlands where the water supply was limited.
"Fortunately the quick intervention from all three crews managed to prevent this fire from escalating further.
"Crews managed to successfully extinguish the fire using multiple hose reel jets, drag forks and beaters
"The cause of the fire was accidental spread from an enclosed incinerator.
"Please be thoughtful of your surrounding areas if you decide to have a bonfire in these dry conditions."
Fire service bosses are urging members of the public to play their part in helping to reduce the risk of wildfires from spreading again this year by not using disposable barbecues or having campfires in forests, and by staying 'fire aware' at all times.
