I WOULD challenge the Government’s need for the number of housing requirements in West Dorset over the next seventeen years and by the Dorset Council inflating the figure of 30,500 to 39,000 cannot be justified.
Taking Bridport itself, there are 413 people on the Housing List requiring a home whether to buy or rent.
Bridport, therefore, doesn’t need vast numbers of unaffordable open-market housing but affordable homes for local people on local incomes.
The Local Plan is at present open to public scrutiny, but will the Dorset Council listen to what is needed rather than what is foisted upon us - probably not!
