'Recruiting more police will only restore us to the amount we used to have'
YOU gave us the news about more police officers being recruited for Dorset at the moment (New Officers on Beat, February 4).
However, cuts in public spending over recent years have resulted in a loss of 20,000 officers in England and Wales alone.
Recruiting this number now would simply restore us to the staffing levels of 10 years ago.
