BRIDPORT residents are being challenged to engage in a fun lockdown project.
For those growing tired of endless Zoom quizzes and Netflix series, The Lyric Theatre has launched a fun creative project which residents can get involved with.
The 'Story Windows' project invites members of the public (of all ages) to create a display based on, or inspired by, your favourite book. These 3D displays, also known as 'dioramas', would then be put up in windows across Bridport for others to see and enjoy.
As simple or as complex as you like, these displays can be made using materials found around the house, and residents are encourage to be as creative as possible.
This is not the first creative initiative The Lyric has been at the head of, the theatre's 'Portrait Challenge' over the summer saw Bridport's streets decorated with portraits of people's loved ones that they were unable to see at the time, due to the original lockdown.
A spokesman for The Lyric Theatre said: "This is a project for all ages, and no experience is necessary. Let your imagination be your limit and challenge yourself to create something beyond what you thought you were capable of! Create more than one if you like. The Lyric will share examples of dioramas to inspire and start you off, and hopefully some Bridport shopkeepers will feel inspired to join in and maybe share top tips on how they design their shop window displays.
"Let’s bring our windows and favourite books to life and spread joy out in our community."
Staff at the theatre say they hope this project will bring residents excitement and creative fulfilment during the coming winter evenings.
Staff tips include being sure to get good lighting behind your display, ensuring it is illuminated after dark.
For those without street-facing window, you are still able to take part by sharing your creations with the world on social media.
Those uploading pictures to social media are encouraged to tag the Lyric Theatre on Facebook at 'thelyrictheatre' or on Instagram, @lyrictheatrebridport
