AMMONITE, the much anticipated film based on the life of Mary Anning, is set to go on general release in cinemas on March 26.
The film, which stars Kate Winslet as the famed Lyme Regis fossil hunter, was originally scheduled for a 2020 release, but was continually set back as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Much of it was shot on location in Lyme Regis in early 2019.
The story explores themes of class and same sex relationships in the 19th century. It follow Anning's fictional relationship with Frances Bell, played by Saoirse Ronan.
A preview screening was held in selected UK cinemas as part of the British Film Festival in October, drawing rave reviews from film critics. It was also recently listed in a preview of the best films of 2021 by Empire magazine.
The official UK release date for the film is currently scheduled for Friday, March 26 - the hope being that cinemas will have reopened by this time.
