An Advent display involving a community spread cheer and raised funds over Christmas.
Throughout December, Bothenhampton residents were encouraged to prepare an Advent or Christmas scene at Holy Trinity Church as part of the ‘Advent Sparkle’.
The church opened its doors on December 5, 12 and 19 open-fronted boxes on the premises were decorated with creative depictions of the annunciation of the Angel Gabriel to Mary and nativity scenes through to winter scenes and even a display depicting Christmas under the sea.
In the process, visitors donated just short of £150, which the church was then able to donate to The Children’s Society - a welcome fundraising effort since the church was unable to hold its usual informal carols evening.
