Prime Minister Boris Johnson is to hold a No 10 press conference at 5pm today, Downing Street has said.
The chief medical officer for England, Professor Chris Whitty, and the Government’s chief scientific adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance, will also appear.
It comes after Mr Johnson announced England was to enter a third national lockdown.
In an address to the nation on Monday night, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “I know how tough this is, and I know how frustrated you are and I know you have had more than enough of government guidance about defeating this virus, but now, more than ever, we must pull together.”
Under the latest rules, people have been told to 'stay at home' and only leave if they have a 'reasonable excuse'.
They include going work if you cannot do so from home, to go to the shops or obtain services, for childcare, care, exercise and medical reasons.
Primary and secondary schools have closed and move to online learning for all pupils except children of key workers and the most vulnerable.
The clinically extremely vulnerable are advised to begin shielding again, and Mr Johnson said those affected will receive letters “shortly”.
Exercise will be allowed – preferably limited to once a day – with members of your household or support bubble or one other person from another household
The Prime Minister’s televised statement on new coronavirus restrictions on Monday evening was watched by an average audience of 15.6 million viewers on the BBC.
