A PROJECT designed to share residents' lockdown experiences is set to return in the new year.
The Bridport Lockdown project began in April at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and the first national lockdown. It was created to capture and archive stories from daily life in and around Bridport throughout the extraordinary year which has been 2020.
Project initiator Eddy Pearce established the initiative with the hope that the archive would create a visual reminder of the challenges faced during the 'new normal'.
Mr Pearce took a break from the project in August, as the country began to open back up and take some steps towards normality - however he is now set to resume the project.
Mr Pearce said: "The Bridport Lockdown project will be back up and running before the end of 2020.
"It had never been the plan to give it a break. To be honest there had never really been 'a plan'. Back when this started none of us really had a clue what was going on or how long it might go on for, so making plan was an odd concept. It’s pretty easy to argue that not a lot has changed. However, back in August as work cautiously crept back into my calendar, I realised that I needed to give the project, and myself, some space.
"Suddenly we are at the end of this extraordinary year with a new, and possibly no less extraordinary, year just around the corner. It feels like a good time to reflect, and a good time to ask once again for you to dig out the photos, stories and thoughts which might help to create a picture of life in and around Bridport under the clouds of Covid-19."
Local residents, businesses and groups who have stories to tell or photos to share are being asked to contribute to the project.
To do so, visit www.bridportlockdown.org or search for Bridport Lockdown on Facebook.
