West Bay has welcomed a new marine visitor who has dropped in for a rest.
A large seal has been spotted resting on the pontoons in the harbour over the past few days.
Resident Rachel Jenner, who took pictures of the mammal, said: "We walk around the harbour every day and this was the first first time we've seen a seal in West bay. It was very exciting and fascinating to see.
"The size of the seal was incredible it was huge and just enjoying relaxing on one of the pontoons."
Harbourmaster James Radcliffe said he had also spotted the seal and said it seemed fine and not in distress. He said it had been resting on the pontoons but wasn't there yesterday as there had been more harbour activity.
While sightings of such creatures attract attention, the public are advised to keep their distance and to not approach the seal.
British Divers Marine Life Rescue says 'seals are wild animals and although they look cute, they will defend themselves aggressively if necessary'.
They are known to haul themselves onto the coast after stormy weather or hight tides to rest.
