THE town is in a spin as a new record label and recording studio launches.
Alex Boot and James Dent have opened Unbroken Records at St Michael’s Trading Estate in Bridport next door to Clocktower Music.
The pair founded the label around a year ago and were previously working out of Alex's mum's garage.
Alex said: “We went to Jamaica and recorded around sixteen artists in about a month last October and grew as a label from there.
“We spent the last 12 months getting all those releases ready to launch and then the coronavirus happened. We were planning to release them at Notting Hill Carnival and a few other key events that fit the sort of music we are doing.
“When this happened, my family had been in Walditch for four years, so we moved the whole operation from London to my mum’s garage. We set the recording studio up there and did that during the whole of lockdown. As we started to come out of lockdown. We started to look for a place to make our own.”
That is when they found the unit at St Michael’s Trading Estate and they are keen to see the tower building rebuilt after a fire destroyed part of it in 2018.
They have transformed it into a recording studio and green room and are continuing business there.
Alex added: “We’ve just signed our first USA artist, Ty Keyz, and were about to launch his music, and we have been working with Lori Asher who has been recording in the studio - we have just launched her debut single.”
As well as this, the team there has launched Bridport TV on Facebook.
Alex said: “We got the green studio for content creation and we thought we would run with the idea.
“There are loads of people who want to share ideas and want to do it, so it definitely seems to be doing well.”
