A young animal lover has raised £150 for a west Dorset animal rehoming centre.
Seven-year-old Jessie was inspired to raise money for animals looking for a good home at the RSPCA’s Taylor’s Rehoming Centre at Kingston Maurward.
From an early age Jessie has been drawn to animals, with dog being her first word. Ever since she has a real love to animals. Her family have two chickens that she helps look after by giving them lots of cuddles as well as cleaning the hen house.
She raised money by making cards that she sold with the help of the team at Fruits of the Earth wholefood shop in Victoria Grove.
Mike English of Fruits of the Earth said: “We were very happy to sell the cars on for Jessie, they sold like hot cakes.”
Jessie also held a sale of homemade gifts and cards on her driveway, which proved popular with passers-by and neighbours who were happy to stop and support a good cause.
Jessie gave the money to Lorna Halsey, supervisor at the RSPCA charity shop in West Street, Bridport.
Graham Burridge, trustee of Taylor’s Rehoming Centre, said: “I would like to thank Jessie on her magnificent achievement.
“The money she has raised will go towards food, medicine, toys and treats, all essential for the animals and their wellbeing.”
