A 10-YEAR-OLD girl was rescued after getting into trouble in the sea.
She was pulled from the water by a nearby kayaker and other members of the public.
A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team said: "Officers were alerted on Friday evening by Solent Coastguard NMOC (National Maritime Operations Centre) to reports of a 10-year-old girl who had just been rescued from the sea by bystanders on Seatown beach.
"The girl had been out bodyboarding, but after running into difficulty was rescued by other beach users including one using a sea kayak.
"Officers were tasked with finding out what had happened and performing a welfare check on those involved in the incident.
"Coastguard officers quickly made their way to the station in West Bay to gather their equipment and rescue vehicle, then headed for Seatown Beach.
"Once on scene, officers identified the girl who had run into difficulty who was now safely with family members.
"The man who had performed the rescue with the sea kayak was also located. All were found to be safe and well, details of the incident were taken and safety advice given.
"Stay safe on the coast this Summer, pay attention to local warning signage, stick to marked paths and take note of the tide times.
"Wear appropriate clothing and make sure you have a method of calling for help. If you do find yourself in difficulty, or if you see something that gives you cause for concern then do not hesitate. DIAL 999 and ask for the COASTGUARD."
