A Bridport woman got a birthday surprise as local police officers visited her house to sing her happy birthday.
Hazel was due to mark her 80th birthday yesterday with a party with her friends and family but, because of the coronavirus outbreak, she was facing spending her birthday at home.
However, after being contacted by Hazel's family, Bridport Police officers paid her a special visit to serenade her a happy birthday and give her some presents, donated by Waitrose.
A spokesperson for Bridport Police said: "We were contacted by the family of Hazel who today is 80 years young! She was due to have a party with family & friends coming from all over the county and abroad however this had to be cancelled due to COVID19 restrictions. So uncommitted officers from Bridport Police took 5 minutes out of their patrols to attend Hazel’s address to wish her a happy birthday! Apologies for the singing! Thanks to Waitrose, Bridport, for supplying the presents."
