A former west Dorset student shared his vision for the future with the Minister of International Trade.

Joshua Hughes, who went to Beaminster School, was amongst the apprentices who shared their excitement about future technologies built aerospace engineering company Leonardo, in Yeovil, during a recent visit from Conor Burns MP, Minister of International Trade.

After attending Beaminster School, Joshua moved to Yeovil, securing an apprenticeship with Leonardo.

He was selected to be part of a group of Leonardo apprentices who were chosen to speak to the minister, in order to share details of the roles they played in supporting the build of helicopters for customers, such as the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Norwegian Air Force.

The apprentices described to the minister how the role the helicopters play in search and rescue and crime prevention around the world give them an extra sense of motivation and focus.
