A car became engulfed by flames when it caught fire.
Firefighters from Dorchester Fire Station battled the blaze on Coombe Road, near Winterbourne Abbas, on Thursday evening.
The road was closed between Winterbourne Abbas and Portesham and motorists were urged to avoid the area.
Dorset Police was alerted to the incident by the fire service just before 5pm.
A police spokesman said the incident is believed to have happened on the bend.
The fire service left the scene shortly after 6pm and handed over to the highways authority (Dorset Council) to clear up an oil spill in the road.
Two hose reel jets and one breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the flames.
Nobody was injured, according to a fire service spokesman.
