A NEW café has opened on the coast.
Tracey and William Jovanovic, who run Westpoint Apartments in West Bay, have transformed one of their apartments on the esplanade to a café and are now open and ready for business.
They got the idea to open their own cafe from local residents, who remembered when a pub used to be sited there.
Tracey said: “We’ve been running Westpoint Apartments with our two sons and an excellent team for the last four years and lots of locals and guests always mentioned how much they enjoyed the Westpoint Tavern, as it was before.
“The idea was planted, and we started work transforming apartment four into a café bar just before Christmas.”
The new café offers homemade cakes, sandwiches, salads, hot dogs, pizzas, vegan options and coffee from roasting company Full Circle. There is also a small bar offering beer, craft ale, cider and wine.
Although flood defence works are ongoing at West Bay, and the promenade continues to be closed to vehicles, the café is still open and signposted.
Tracey added: “It might look like you can’t get to us at the moment, because of all the health and safety fencing along the esplanade, but you can look for the West Beach Café Bar sign - we have a crossing directly opposite our front door.
“West Bay might not be in its usual state that we all love, but we know that all of the businesses here are working hard to ensure you can still have a lovely time.
“We’re looking forward to getting the beach back mid July.”
