WEST Dorset school pupils became characters from their favourite stories as they celebrated World Book Day.
The day brings together children of all ages to appreciate and celebrate reading.
St Mary’s in Bridport enjoyed a week of books, which included visiting Bridport Library and dressing up on the day itself. The week was themed around poetry, so children listened to, read and learned to recite poems throughout the week, culminating in a performance to the school in assembly. The school was visited by Antonia and Nikki from The Book Shop, Bridport, who read each class a story and showed them some of the books they stock.
Pupils at schools including Bridport Primary, St Catherine’s, Beaminster School and St Michael’s in Lyme, put together impressive costumes to mark the day.
All he children were commended for their amazing efforts.
