THE Marshwood Vale Young Farmers have raised £10,000 for Dorset County Hospital’s Cancer Appeal.
The group celebrated another successful year with a Royal Ascot themed supper where they thanked everyone for their hard work and help throughout the year, including businesses that opened their doors to members to find out more about what they do.
At the supper they welcomed Simon Pearson, head of fundraising for Dorset County Hospital’s Cancer Appeal, to present the cheque.
The appeal will develop cancer facilities for patients in north, south and west Dorset and bring radiotherapy services to Dorchester for the first time.
The Marshwood Vale Young Farmers held several fundraising events throughout the year, including carol singing, bingo, an auction of promises, laser clay pigeon shooting, a neon party, car boot sales and more.
A spokesperson for the young farmers said: “We were incredibly proud to present a cheque for £10,000 to such a well-deserved charity.
“We are immensely grateful to every single person that helped us achieve this amount – we really could not have done so well without everyone’s support.”
The Marshwood Vale Young Farmers – a club for any young people aged between ten and 26 – meet on the first Tuesday of each month at Broadoak Village Hall.
