A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences following a collision near the Crown roundabout yesterday (Sunday).
It was reported that the driver drove around the roundabout the wrong way before colliding with another car and crashing on its side.
Police were called just before 5.30pm to reports of a two-vehicle collision near the roundabout on the A35, with one of the vehicles involved leaving the scene.
A white Ford Transit van believed to have been involved in the collision was later located in Broadoak Road.
The road was closed while the vehicle was recovered and it was re-opened just before 9pm.
A 39-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences and is assisting police with their enquiries.
PC Richard Winward, of Bridport police, reported on his Twitter page that the vehicle drove the wrong way round the roundabout and collided with a BMW before driving off for five miles with only three tyres.
Excellent work by Bridport officers last night.Lorry drove wrong way round Crown R/B, wrote off a BMW and failed to stop.Drove 5 miles with 3 tyres. Ended up on its side. Driver arrested sus drink drive and other offences. In custody. No one injured..luckily.
