THE inaugural classic car and memorabilia auction at a Bridport auction house is attracting worldwide interest.

Ranging from cars that haven’t seen the light of day in years, to those involved in royal weddings and in professional races, the auction at Busby’s at North Mills has ignited worldwide interest as people from as far away as China and the USA have declared their interest.

Guy Loveridge, from Yorkshire, is a classic car and memorabilia consultant who has been involved in the auction world for 17 years and said he was looking forward to the auction, which will take place on Saturday, October 19.

Mr Loveridge said: “I have done these auctions all over the world and I’m very pleased with the standard of cars available at this one.

“Some of the cars have been kept in barns for years and then there are some with brilliant stories.

“There is really something for everyone and I’m looking forward to coming to Bridport.

“It’s a great location and it’s quite exciting there has been interest from all over the world.”

Those who are not in attendance at the auction can still bid on the cars thanks to the live stream on the internet.

One lot is a BMW 7 series limousine. It was one of 200 cars used for the 2011 wedding of Prince Albert of Monaco, it has only 2000km on the clock and includes the number plate used at the wedding.

A 1948 Allard M-Type was one of only 500 made and hasn’t been on the road for over three years.

There is also a 1928 Falcon Knight open Road Tourer, of which there are only five known examples in the world.

Another car sure to whet the appetite of petrol-heads is a classic 1966 Jaguar E-Type Series One Roadster which even though it has been restored, still has much of the original bodywork and the vintage black plates.

Also adding to the collection is a Porsche Carrera 3.0, converted into a highly reputable race car which has won the Tour of Britain twice.
