LOCAL cheesemakers are challenging a family from the UK to take part in the ‘scariest night of their lives’ to coincide with Hallowe’en.
Ford Farm, creators of Wookey Hole Cave Aged Cheddar, want a fearless family spend the night 200 feet underground in Wookey Hole caves on Thursday, October 31.
The caves are most famously haunted by the legendary ‘Witch of Wookey Hole’ who is preserved as a stalagmite in the first chamber of the caves.
The winning family will go underground for the night accompanied by the founders of the Ghostfinder Paranormal Society, a professional paranormal investigation and research team, who will be using the latest in ghost hunting technology and techniques designed to track paranormal activity.
The family will be monitored via a webcam. If they cave in with fear at any time they will need to shout: ‘I’m too scared, get me out of here!’ at which point a member of staff will undo the locks and release the family from the caves.
If the family successfully achieves the challenge of an entire fright night underground, from the required hours of 11pm to 6am, they will be rewarded with a seasonal membership to the Wookey Hole caves, an overnight stay at the Wookey Hole Hotel as well as a batch of complimentary Wookey Hole Cave Aged Cheddar.
Each member of the family will also receive a signed certificate from the Wookey Hole Witch.
Families who are confident they can rise to the challenge of spending the scariest night of their lives in the caves, will need to visit the Wookey Hole Cave Aged Cheddar website at fordfarm.com and complete an online entry form.
The entries will be shortlisted down to the final three by a team of judges from Wookey Hole caves and Wookey Hole Cave Aged Cheddar. The three shortlisted families will be individually evaluated by the ghost finding duo and assessed for their suitability to the challenge.
The ghost finders will be responsible for picking the winning family. The winners will be transported to the Wookey Hole Caves on the evening of the October 31 ready to enter the caves at 11pm.
