A MAN has died after suffering a cardiac arrest and collapsing at a beach in Burton Bradstock.
The man in his 50’s from Wiltshire is believed to have collapsed shortly before 1.30pm yesterday.
He had been out fishing with his uncle and he chased after a hat that had blown away before collapsing.
A spokesman for Portland Coastguard said: “We had a call reporting a man who had been out canoeing and then he had come back and collapsed.
“The man, in his early 50s from Wiltshire, was with his uncle fishing.
“His uncle’s hat blew off and he chased it and then collapsed.
“Sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.”
A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: “We received a call for an ambulance at 1.30pm for a man in his 50’s who had collapsed at Hive Beach in Burton Bradstock.
“Sadly the man subsequently died at the scene.
“We are not treating the incident or the circumstances as suspicious.
“An ambulance was also called to the scene.”
A spokesperson for the Ambulance Service said they were called at 1.09pm to Hive Beach in Burton Bradstock, after a report of someone collapsing.
The spokesperson added: “The person suffered a cardiac arrest and as a result died at the scene.
“Two ambulances were sent to the scene shortly after 1pm, as well as a community volunteer first respondent, who attempted CPR procedures to no avail.”
