Maddy Prior, one of the most enduring and respected artists in British music, will be appearing at the Marine Theatre as part of Lyme Regis Arts Fest 2013.
Since she first appeared on the music scene with Tim Hart in the late 60s, Maddy Prior has produced an outstanding and varied body of work in the field of folk music, both as an arranger and songwriter.
She was a founding member of Steeleye Span and has performed with the likes of June Tabor, Martin Carthy, Nic Jones, Danny Thompson and John Kirkpatrick.
Still in love with her medium, still pushing at the boundaries, still fascinated by the possibilities that music has to offer, this autumn sees her team up with Giles Lewin of Carnival Band and young accordion player Hannah James to perform the music of England, the British Isles and Eastern Europe – all delivered in her own unique style.
With a background that is both rich and versatile, Giles and Hannah are two of a burgeoning talent on today’s folk scene.
Giles is a multi-instrumentalist specialising in violin and bagpipes as well as early music.
Hannah is a singer, accordionist and clog dancer who was a founding member of Kerfuffle and forms the other half of a duo with Sam Sweeney.
