SUPER wheels for a super-wheelchair have allowed a Bridport woman to do her job more quickly – and make her a lot less tired at the end of the day.

Sarah Adams, who is married with two grown-up sons, works as a pharmacy technician in two hospitals, teaches pharmacy students in Yeovil and raises funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

She also swam in the Bridport Lions 2012 Swimarathon as part of a disabled team.

Discovering that the Lions help local groups and individuals, Sarah, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 20 years ago, approached them for assistance towards super wheels for her wheelchair.

The Lions were only too pleased to help out and now, with wheels power-assisted by integral batteries, Sarah says she has not turned into a ‘girl racer’, but can go faster, easier and be less tired at the end of a day.

Sarah says she feels she can now do her job better as she can get around the hospital more easily and quickly to discuss medication regimes with patients and liaise with doctors.

Sarah is passionate about her job, a field she has worked in for 30 years, and the Lions club felt she made a great role model for people with a disability.

“The Lions feel that Sarah is an amazing person and were pleased to be able to help,” said Bridport Lions president Peter Garlick.

“One of the Lions’ mottos is ‘ordinary people amazing things’.

There is time to enter a team for this year’s 20th Swimarathon at the Bridport Leisure Centre on October 6 where Sarah will again be supporting the club.
