FRESH auditions are being staged in West Dorset to cast more extras for the star-studded Far From the Madding Crowd movie.
The blockbuster is being shot in the Bridport, Beaminster and Dorchester areas from mid-September to the end of October.
Hundreds of hopefuls queued around the block for casting sessions in Bridport earlier this month for individual roles – such as sheep shearers – and crowd scenes.
But now producers have narrowed down the search and holding another open day at Dorchester Rugby Club tomorrow from 9am to 8pm.
Film project manager George Moss said: said: “Because of the fantastic turnout we experienced in Bridport a few weeks ago, we have been able to get quite specific with people we are looking for this Friday.
“We had a lot of good people. We were looking for sheep shearers and people with skills like that. It is such a difficult skills and so specific, so it was good that we got some people there for that.”
This Friday they are looking for young men aged 16 to 20 with hair a minimum one inch long as well as men aged 20 to 40 with hair a minimum of one inch long preferably with some kind of beard.
Producers need outdoor looking types of girls aged 16 to 20 with a natural appearance and long hair.
Also needed are women aged 30 to 40 and 40 to 50 with long natural hair, specifically for shoulder length or longer as well as natural nails, eyebrow shape or eyebrows which can be left until filming.
Women are asked to attended with either very light makeup or no makeup at all.
The Thomas Hardy adaptation will star A list actress Carey Mulligan, who recently played Daisy Buchanan in the Baz Luhrman production of The Great Gatsby, as Bathsheba.
George said: “Far from the Madding Crowd is one of my favourite novels.
“We are shooting in the local area, in real Hardy country. It is a fantastic opportunity for people to get involved.
“It is a great way for people to get involved in something that they might not normally do.”
