It’s tinsel time in Lyme Regis next week when the annual Christmas tree festival takes place.
The sixth festival opens at the town’s Baptist Church on Tuesday and runs until Saturday, December 22.
Previous events have attracted up to 1,000 visitors, keen to see the array of decorated trees from local organisations.
Each group takes great pains to decorate their tree to reflect their own interests and aims.
In addition this year, for the first time on Wednesday, December 19 at 6.30pm there will be a concert of words and music called the Spirit of Christmas, among the trees. Local singers and actors will sing Christmas songs and share words from some famous Christmas stories and poems.
“This is the sixth time this event has taken place attracting up to 1,000 visitors,” said organiser Alan Vian.
“Each organisation decorates its tree to reflect who they are. There is no competition as each tree is valued equally – visitors are invited to make donations to the organisation of their choice.”
The festival is on from 10.30am to 6pm Tuesday to Thursday, until 7pm on Friday and until 2pm on Saturday. Admission is free.
