MAHARAJ Krishna N. The funeral for, and celebration of, Krishna N. Maharaj (a British national born on January 26, 1939, in Trinidad) will take place over two days at the end of the month. Kris was a self-made businessman in the 1970s and 1980s in the UK. On Easter Day, 2024, his 84-year old wife Marita relocated back to the UK, to live in Bridport, in the keen anticipation that her husband would soon join her. Sad to say, it was not to be at least not in this life. Kris passed away on August 5, 2024, in hospital in Florida. He is being flown back to the UK. On Monday, August 26, 13:00, because Kris was a cricketer in his youth, there will be a memorial cricket match (Dorset v. Rest of the World) and BBQ at Broadwindsor Cricket Club. All are welcome. On Tuesday, August 27, starting at the end of West Pier, West Bay at 10:00am, there will be a walk of 13,808 paces, one for each day he spent in prison for something he always insisted he did not do - along the cliffs of West Bay via a couple of pubs. The funeral will take place at 15:30 at the Bridport Catholic Church, 36 Victoria Grove, Bridport DT6 3AD with interment afterwards at the Bridport Cemetery. Marita has expressed her determination to fight to clear his name.
