EVANS Gillian M.B.E. Widow of Martin, mother of Christopher and the late Frances, and grandmother of Nick. Gillian died peacefully at home on 29th August 2023, aged 90 years. Funeral service will take place at St Michael and All Angels Church, Askerswell on Tuesday, 26th September at 11.00am. Family flowers only please donations, if desired, for Askerswell PCC which may be given online at www.ajwakely.com or sent c/o A J Wakely & Sons, 91 East Street, Bridport DT6 3LB.

Part of the friendship forged at Seale-Hayne Agricultural College, we shared many of life's milestones. It is now hard to realize that Gill is no longer there for the occasional catch-up 'phone call. I shall miss her.

I shall be there in spirit togather with our friend Penelope on 26th September.

My mother, Penelope Carmichael (nee Tait), met Gill at Seale-Hayne Agricultural College and was the start of a life-long friendship. As a result I was Martin's godson, a role that Gill took over after Martin's untimely death. I have wonderful memories of visiting Martin and Gill in Askerswell - always greeted wonderfully and always well fed and watered (similar to Gill's wonderful Connemaras)!

I'm afraid that neither my Mother nor I will be able to attend Gill's funeral - I will certainly miss her.
